MATCH REPORT - 9th MAY 2010
Surbiton Town 7v1 Tower Hamlets

Tower Hamlets went into their game against Surbiton Town eager to get much needed 3 points. Constant pressure from Surbiton brought out some great saves from Mooch Perkins that kept the team in the first half. Last ditch defending from the back four also kept the score even.

Tower Hamlets were finding it hard to hold the ball up and possession was turned over quickly, inviting more pressure. Hamlets were trying to use the pace of Holly Beswick, Claire Speed and Helena Kiely but a couple of times, the attack found themselves caught offside. Hamlets held firm for most of the first half before conceded a goal a couple of minutes before half time.

Hamlets came out of their half time talk fast out of the blocks, putting pressure on Surbiton straight from the kick off, leading to Karen Clark having a shot cleared off the line.

Swift counter attacking led to a second Surbiton goal. The pressure continued to pile on Tower Hamlets and more goals were conceded, including an unfortunate own goal.

Helena Kiely scored a consolation goal, twisting and turning the defence near the touchline. Some questioned whether it was a cross but it definitely one of the best goals of the game. The smiles quickly faded as Surbiton scored a seventh goal.

Tower Hamlets can take some positives from this game but will hope they do better in their last game of the season.

Mooch was awarded Shero.
