London County Cup, Third Round
Tower Hamlets WFC 3 v 2 Leyton

Scorers:
Hannah Dalgleish x 2
Karen Clark

We bounced back from last weekend's disappointing result with a victory against Leyton in the 3rd round of the London County Cup. With the score 2 nil to Leyton at half time we knew we needed an early goal to get back in it and as we'd had the lion's share of possession and chances in the first half we were optimistic we could do it. Leyton looked like they were tiring after Susie Hill had run their defence ragged with her almost impossible runs down the right hand touchline.

We got one back within 15 seconds of the re-start as Hannah Dalgleish volleyed passed the Leyton keeper after a sumptuous cross from Sabrina Samuel. We got our deserved equaliser shortly afterwards with a great top corner strike from Karen Clark after a Jasmina Cherguit long throw (the Rory Delap of Tower Hamlets). We clinched it with 20 minutes to go when Hannah converted a header from another superb Samuel cross to make it 3-2 to the Cows.

Leyton threatened to come back with a few surging runs but we stood out ground. Goalkeeper Rachel Kettle made an important save with 5 minutes to go as she went one on one with the Leyton striker and blocked her shot bravely.
We meet Wingate and Finchley in the 4th round.
