Tower Hamlets Sports Council

Welcome to the official site for Tower Hamlets WFC. Also famously known as the COWS, the club was formed back in the 1992-93 season as a product of Leyton Orient FC's Community Sports Programme and was known as Clapton Orient WFC. This was one of the first community schemes, supported by the local boroughs including Hackney, to develop women's and girls' football in the local area. Clapton Orient is Leyton Orient's pre-war name and where they used to play. In 2007 Clapton Orient WFC changed it's name to what its now known as Tower Hamlets WFC. The club plays and trains within Tower Hamlets.

In April 2008 the club achieved FA Charter Standard Status. This best practice scheme sets standards of coaching and administration for amateur football clubs - more details can be found at www.thefa.com/grassrootsnew/charterstandard

The 1st team currently play in the London & SE Regional Women's Division One (London) League and the Reserves play in the Greater London Women's Football Division Three North League
