Tower Hamlets WFC was formerly known as Clapton Orient WFC. Nicknamed the COWS, the club was formed back in the 1992-93 season as a product of Leyton Orient FC’s Community Sports Programme. This was one of the first community schemes, supported by the local boroughs including Hackney, to develop women’s and girls’ football in the local area. Clapton Orient is Leyton Orient’s pre-war name and where they used to play. In 2007 Clapton Orient WFC changed its name to Tower Hamlets WFC; playing and training within the borough Tower Hamlets.

In April 2008 the club achieved FA Charter Standard Status. This best practice scheme sets standards of coaching and administration for amateur football clubs – more details can be found at www.thefa.com/grassrootsnew/charterstandard

We have two teams, 1st and Reserves. We are always looking for new players so if you are looking for a club, please contact us.
